|Tadamori Oshima was born in 1946 at Hachinohe,Aomori. After graduating from Keio University in 1970 (Bachelor of Law), he began his career at Mainichi Shinbun. He was elected to the Assembly of Aomori Prefecture in 1975 at the age of 28 and served 2 terms. Oshima was elected to the House of Representatives in 1983 for the first time from what was then the 1st district(3rd district after 1994 electoral reform) of Aomori Prefecture. Since then, he has been continuously reelected, and he is now in his 7th term.
Starting from the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary under Kaifu Administration, Oshima has been appointed numerous positions in the Cabinet, House and Party（Liberal Democratic Party）. As a cabinet member, he has served as Secretary of Environment('95), Minister of Education and Secretary of Science & Technology ('00),and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery ('02). In the House, he was appointed as a Chairman of Steering Committee ('99), and served nearly 2 years.Prior to this position, Oshima served numerous terms as a director of the committee.In the party, he served 2 years as a Deputy Secretary General ('93-95). Also,he was appointed as a Chairman of LDP Diet Affairs Committee ('00), and served nearly 2 years as well.
He now belongs to the House Budget Committee and Committee on Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In the Party, Oshima is a ranking member of several committees,such as Research Committee on Agricultural Policy, Research Committee on Agricultural,Forestry and Fishery Trade, Special Committee on Tobacco and Salt, Research Committee on Regional Revival. He is also an Acting Chairman of Asia-Africa Parliamentary Association, and Chairman of Parliamentary League on Supporting the Democratization of Myanmar.
Oshima is married to Setsu, and they have two adult sons.
